What is Autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that can cause intellectual, communication, social, and behavioral challenges. ASD is a spectrum disorder. This means that it differs for each child that it affects and ranges from mild to severe.

What is ABA?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a research based, data-driven, systematic teaching approach. This approach is used to target the core deficits of autism (e.g., communication, social skills, and behaviors).

What is BCBA?

A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a graduate level professional who is certified in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. BCBA’s apply the principles of ABA to help individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities learn a variety of skills while decreasing undesirable behaviors.

What is an RBT?

A registered behavior technician (RBT) will provide 1:1 instructor and implement behavior intervention protocols based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, and school settings. The RBT will collect data on programs and interfering behaviors, follow programming objectives and treatment plans, implement applied behavior analysis techniques during the session.

What is Natural Environment Training (NET)?

Natural Environmental Training is a highly individualized method that captures learning opportunities through play, within the child's natural learning environment. The child leads the session, meaning that the teaching opportunities are presented as the child navigates through their environment. This approach captures the motivation of the child, increasing the endless opportunities for teaching!

What is Discrete Trial Training (DTT)?

Discrete trial training is a structured ABA technique that breaks down skills into small components and teaches those smaller components individually. During DTT, repeated practice of skills is conducted to maximize learning. This approach consists of five main parts: an initial instruction, a prompt or a cue given by the therapist to help the child respond correctly, a response given by the child, an appropriate consequence (e.g., receiving a reward) to motivate the child to respond correctly again in the future, and lastly a pause before presenting the next instruction. The goal is to build up to a single, overall, desired behavior.

We accept Aetna, Cigna, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Healthcare with out-of-network benefits. We accept private pay.
